AZGAZ®
AZGAZ® is a compact, lightweight, in-line gas/liquid separation unit, specifically designed for the effective removal of liquid and solid particles from gas streams.
How AZGAZ® works
Wet gas entering the unit is immediately caused to slow down by the increase in cross-sectional pipeline area. This allows the larger liquid droplets to be effected by gravity, falling and collecting as liquid at the bottom of the vessel. This liquid is prevented from migrating any further along the vessel by the first stage diffuser, passing instead through a liquid drain nozzle into a collection pot.
Gas flowing through the centre of the first diffuser, meanwhile, contains a fine mist of liquid droplets too small to settle under gravity. As this gas passes through our patented 2-stage fixed vane swirler, it is forced to spin, bringing together the smaller liquid droplets and forcing them to the outer edge of the flow stream.
On exiting the swirler, the combined effects of the enhanced ‘g’ forces and increased separation allow the liquid droplets to be caught radially where they’re collected by the final diffuser and drain from the vessel.
The centrifugal action on the liquid droplets is far greater than on the gas molecules, due to the greater mass of the liquid droplets.

Testing Authority
AZGAZ® has been laboratory tested by the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
AZGAZ® Applications
AZGAZ®’s patented technology is ideal for the following applications:
Patented Technology
AZGAZ® is covered by patents in 30 countries, including European Patent Number EP 0643 610 B1.
Capability
AZGAZ® will remove 99.5% of 11µm liquid droplets and larger from a gas stream. AZGAZ® can operate efficiently with inlet concentrations of up to 20% v/v liquid and with the addition of a 3rd diffuser, concentrations of up to 30% v/v liquid.
AZGAZ® is capable of operating over a wide range of pressures, temperatures, flowrates and in any diameter. AZGAZ® units can be designed as vessels or as pipeline components inline with the clients piping class and specifications.
