Inline Slurry Pressure Reducing Cartridge
Pressure is a major cause of problems when discharging slurry into the atmosphere. Merpro’s Inline Slurry Pressure Reducing Cartridge (IPRC) provides a tried and tested solution by ‘burning’ pressure, so that slurry can be discharged at a more manageable speed.

How it works
The unit is made up of a series of ceramic cyclonic cartridges. The feed enters these cartridges tangentially, generating centrifugal forces proportional to the inlet pressure. This, in turn, creates a ‘back pressure’ to the incoming flow. Significantly, Merpro’s solution avoids the use of small orifices. Instead, the Inline Slurry Pressure Reducing Cartridge allows a relatively small flow rate to pass through relatively large orifices, while maintaining upstream pressure. This means that solid particles – up to several millimetres in diameter – can pass through the unit without causing blockages or any serious abrasion.
Simple to use
Every sand handling installation is different, so the make-up of every IPRC solution varies according to the specific process parameters. The precise number of ceramic cartridges required is determined at the detailed design stage. These are then stacked in series to form a single cartridge assembly that can be easily installed and replaced.
IPRC is flexible too. Once in service, the number of cartridges used in each assembly can be changed, depending on whether you need to burn more or less pressure.
