The bulk of produced water from separation trains is fed into de-oiling hydrocylcone process skids to reduce the level of oil content in the water to typically less than 40ppm.
Merpro has almost 20 years of experience in embodying de-oiling hydrocyclone technology into major produced water treatment process packages.
De-oiling Hydrocyclone Process Packages
De-oiling hydrocylcone process packages can be a single pressure vessel with a number of de-oiling hydrocylones installed (see illustration), or a number of these vessels with control and instrumentation on a purpose designed skid.
Each vessel is designed to accomodate the required system produced water flow rates, pressure, temperature and oil in water content. A measure of flexibility can be included in the design to cover future increased flow rates, turn down etc.
Additional vessels can be added when new wells or satellite facilities are brought into the separation train to increase the de-oiling package through put.
Merpro has the capability to design and manufacture multi-compartment de-oiling hydrocyclones. These can be designed to have various sizes and number of compartments to handle any turndown requirements. Turning compartments on or off is done externally to the vessel with valves and therefore automation of the system is simple.
Design Criteria
Pressure vessels - PD 5500 or ASME VIII
Interconnecting Pipework - ANSI B31.3
