Merpro Asia Pacific chosen for major Malaysian FPSO project

Tore® is preferred technology for SBM on Kikeh
Merpro Asia Pacific Pte Ltd is delighted at having secured the order for the topsides sand handling for the FPSO Kikeh development. The order comprises multiple vessel desanding with a Tore® Online Vessel Desander (OVD) system and sand cleaning with Merpro’s Tore®Scrub technology. The system will be operated initially with Merpro’s (manual) rental Tore®Scrub until the project (automatic) Tore®Scrub package is completed.
FPSO Kikeh is operated by MDPC (Malaysia Deepwater Production Contractors) Sdn Bhd, two joint ventures between SBM and Misc Berhad. The field operator is Murphy Sabah Oil Company Ltd.
Stuart Turnbull, General Manager, Merpro Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, commented: “This is the second significant order for Tore®OVD for Merpro Asia Pacific since the official inception of the company towards the end of last year. The Kikeh development consists of an FPSO, designed to accommodate oil production at a rate of 120,000bpd and water injection at 260,000bpd water. The field is located 120km northwest of the island of Labuan, offshore Sabah, East Malaysia, in water depths of around
