PetroGulf selects Merpro's patented Tore®OVD technology

PetroGulf, the Egyptian owner and operator of the Gebel El-Zeit concession in the Red Sea - producing 6000 bbl/day of oil - has recently experienced significant sand production within the 3-phase production separator. Solids carry-over with the produced oil caused costly and annoying problems downstream of the separator and necessitated regular shut-down clean-up cycles. PetroGulf decided to install Merpro's patented Tore® Online Vessel Desanding (OVD) technology - to replace the jetting system originally supplied within the separator - to achieve efficient and reliable sand removal. Merpro's Tore®OVD will be installed through the 24" man-way utilizing two existing nozzles on the separator for motive water and effluent sand slurry. Tore®OVD was successfully delivered on time, along with the necessary non-intrusive pipe supports which are scheduled to be installed during the next shut-down with an allocated interval of four days for complete installation and commissioning activities.
