Merpro Awarded Order for SonaHess Algeria

Petrofac Engineering Limited, based in the UK, has awarded Merpro Limited an order for the supply of a TORE®SCRUB and sand bagging system for SonaHess (a Sonatrach / Hess joint venture) for the El-Gassi field in Algeria.

Initially, the requirement was for the sand bagging system only but after discussions with Petrofac it was agreed that, due to environmental considerations, the sand would need to be washed before bagging it. The solution was to offer a Merpro TORE®SCRUB package utilising the world renowned patented TORE® sand fluidising device. The TORE®SCRUB package offered is similar to those on Merpro rental units that combine the functions of washing and de-sanding in one unit. The TORE®SCRUB will be treating sand received from the process separator at a rate of 20 m3/h. The TORE®SCRUB is capable of cleaning the sand down to less than 10g of oil per Kg of sand (1% w/w), which meets the environmental requirements. The package will be commissioned in March 2008.

We are delighted to have won this very important order for SonaHess and the first sand handling package order for Algeria that includes our TORE® technology. We look forward to further cooperation with both Petrofac Engineering and SonaHess.
