Merpro Technology Selected for Alaskan Development

Merpro and the Houston office of a major engineering company are finalising the design of a sand handling system incorporating TORE® On-line Vessel Desanders (TORE®OVD) in the High Pressure, Low Pressure and Treater Separators along with Desanding and Deoiling Hydrocyclone packages for a development on Alaska’s North Slope.

The TORE®OVD system removes solids on-line which drop out in the production separators, without any disruption to the separation process. This allows the separators to be kept effectively sand free on a permanent basis, maximising residence time for oil/water separation. Further sand removal equipment is provided in the Produced Water Line where TORE® Trap Desanders remove solids and De-oiling Hydrocyclone Vessels reduce oil content in the produced water.Merpro’s patented technology was selected for the project because of it’s ability to:

1. Handle high rates sand production more efficiently
2. Use less water to remove sand
3. Reduce the footprint of the package
4. Provide the packages at a competitive cost

Besides these advantages, additional cost savings were obtained since the packages fit within the height limitation of the production module, an important variable in the harsh environment of Alaska’s North Slope.
