Merpro Leads in Proppant Removal Technology
Wednesday, 31 December 2008
Merpro has recently won an order from SLP Engineering to design and manufacture three proppant removal packages for E–On Ruhrgas’s Babbage Field in the Southern North Sea. Production from three wells will be fed to the Babbage wellhead platform with gas export via BP’s Ravenspurn South to the Dimlington terminal in Humberside. The key challenge is to remove proppant at the normally unmanned wellhead platform to prevent solids from entering the gas export line.
Merpro will provide three wellhead desanders, incorporating bespoke gas/solid/liquid hydrocyclones to remove solids from the well stream. Each desander will be individually skid mounted with on skid controls and instrumentation, within a tight footprint.
This is Merpro’s first project with E-On Ruhrgas adding another important customer to Merpro’s growing client base, and comes at a time when several other customers are assessing proppant and solids removal projects for the Southern North Sea gas fields.
The packages are due to be delivered in May 2009. Merpro will also provide commissioning engineering support.
